It is amazing what how much good can done with the pennies and nickels that we donate on Sundays in the Super Bowl. I have become almost fanatical about saving those coins. Every time I buy something with cash I try to walk away with more pennies and nickels. It is so easy to make those donations every Sunday. And it makes me feel so good to know that my coin saving efforts during the week will eventually make a positive difference for someone truly in need. Thank you Grace UCC!

These truly are miracles.
I too am aware in my shopping, not paying in exact change and always reminded of the small amount that can do so much good in the larger world.
What a blessing for the opportunity to give in such a simple fashion.

Thanks for providing the opportunity to so easily help others! I have no need to pay attention to the coins–thanks to my husband our house is overflowing with loose change!

During our Christmas holiday visit to my parents’ home in Virginia, my father challenged Mira with a financial deal – an offer to keep 90% of the change that he had saved during the year if she would count it all, and then promise to put at least 40% of it in the bank. Mira gladly counted each coin and without hesitation, told me that she would put all the nickels and pennies of her share in the “bowl” on Sunday. She could hardly wait for the chance to do it! She enjoys the opportunity to help others and this mechanism is just a great way to see how small efforts can create “big” things. It is just great to have found Grace UCC!

I love the idea of providing microcredit loans to help others pursue their community need goals! The Pennies and Nickels Drive is so awesome. When I review the list of things that have already been done with our pennies and nickels, it makes me feel like our church is really making a difference in people’s lives. It’s wonderful.

Thank you to the family of Judy and Clint for “superchanging” our pennies and nickels contributions. Pennies and nickels are no longer considered small change but added to all the others from our church, they can make a significant difference in others’ lives.

Judy and Clint’s decision to direct gifts in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary to the Pennies and Nickels campaign should be an inspiration to all of us. A loving marriage between two people with generous hearts… it’s so obvious why Judy and Clint are loved by so many people, especially those of us at Grace UCC. What a wonderful example for all of us. Bravo!

Is this the Vassie Ware with whom I went to John Marshall? I would love to reconnect! Please e-mail one way or the other.

The pennies and nickels mission is my favorite mission, for so many reasons. I love that by each of us coming together with our handfuls of loose change, we can create changes on a larger scale for people in need. I also like that symbolism that changing the world doesn’t have to mean big grandiose gestures. It really is this simple, little changes, baby steps. If all of us did it, not just here at Grace, but across the country, my goodness, can you just imagine what could be accomplished?

This week in a fit of cleaning and organizing, Duncan and I found a jar of pennies that we had forgotten existed–there were not a lot of pennies but somehow it had found its way to our “yard sale box.” Well, no longer……….today those pennies went to a much better use: Pennies and Nickels!
